Frequently Asked Questions

What does natural mean?

This means the ingredients do not contain artificial colors/flavors and are minimally processed.

Is natural the same as organic?

No it is not. Organic food refers to food items that are produced, manufactured and handled using organic means defined by certifying bodies such as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) under its Organic Food Products Act. Natural food, on the other hand, generally refers to food items that are not altered chemically or synthesized in any form. Organic pizzas have dedicated lines, wash downs between non organic products and all organic produced ingredients. Natural states that the ingredients used are minimally processed and not "synthesized". They are run on all lines and don't have dedicated lines like organic.

Do you make a pizza that doesn't have soy in the crust?

No, all of the pizzas Palermo's produces either contains soy in the crust as an ingredient OR can come into contact with it by sharing the same manufacturing line as other soy containing crusts.

Do all of your crusts contain soy?

Yes, all of the crusts used at Palermo's do include soy in the ingredients or can come into contact with soy on shared production lines that also run other pizzas containing soy.

Do you have MSG in your pizzas?

MSG is included in the ingredients listing when present. We do our best to formulate pizzas without this; however, there are pizzas that contain MSG.

Do your cheeses contain animal enzymes?

Although a small percentage of Palermo's Pizzas use cheese with animal derived enzymes, the factory is not vegan certified and the pizzas are not manufactured on dedicated lines for non-animal enzyme cheese only. There is always the possibility of cheese crossover from one variety of pizza to another. Only Asiago, Romano & Gorgonzola Cheeses contain animal derived enzymes. Other cheese we use are from microbial derived enzymes.

Do you have any pizzas that are Kosher?

No, we do not have any Kosher certification.

Do Palermo's pizzas contain genetically modified organisms (GMO's)?

Palermo’s pizza may contain GMO’s depending on the ingredients used on the pizza. Some ingredients here at Palermo’s may contain GMO’s and pizzas may contain them due to potential cross contamination because we do not run products containing GMO’s on dedicated lines.
